So, I have totally discovered the best expat "cafe" in Antigua. It is even better than the Bagel Barn. However, I suspect it will be in the next Lonely Planet. :( I have also realized that I like Australians. ;) Well, as much as I'm allowed to. :P Alas, anyway I cut the cake this is my second to last day in Antigua.

I survived Pucaya. It was pretty crazy cool. :)

yes, this is what it takes; a reason. :P
Still in Antigua (and have finally found the shift and "(" ") " keys on the board). Got up early this morning to go the Market only to be rather disapointed. But, it turns out that is the wrong market! :) So Sunday afternoon (when things are cheapest) i can go shopping. :) Tomorrow we (well, K for sure) will climb vulcano Pacaya. I am not at all certain primarily due to my knee acting up. *sigh*
Oh, and yay! (though I chuckle) that at least one person still checks this blog.

guatemala day 2

well, i'm in antigua. it is as, lonely planet put it, 'impossibly cute'. i feel like i'm back in southern spain. and the coffee is amazing! which makes sense.
if anyone could answer this question for me would appreciate it, why is it ok to dose one's self (shower) in water that it's not ok to drink? I'm not disbelieving, but I'm really confused by this.

coffebeans

Watch the freeway slink by in a casual melt of metal and taillights, and I am content in starbucks with my gingerbread latte on table.
I have The Decemberists playing so I am thematically coordinated, but in fantastic unobviously obvious ways. Surrounded by the studious quiet of students beginning dead-week with the promise of Christmas thin and distant at ten days away I sit and type this note to you, but also a statement for The Farm: the statement that may give purpose to my life.
It feels good to write something again that I don’t have to pay to have read that I don’t even really know will ever be read, really . . .
So, when it comes time for you to pack your suitcase and move on to the next place that you will come to be. When your syntax must once again change and the places you sleep; and the liquid in your mug is no longer what it once was. Send a postcard back to the one you were in that time before and when the cool autumn air strikes your cheek in a way so familiar it must have always been the same; it is not; it too has changed, but allow yourself for a moment to remember that it has always been as this.
But most importantly, hold back nothing from the other that is to come. Whether your efforts amount to success and happiness in the next lifetime or simply expensive wall décor matters not; it is not your place to be stingy. :P

Two down, four more to go. I can hardly wait until the whole "applying to grad school" thing is over.
After that maybe I'll do this :P
